Fashion Takes Action is a Canadian organization focused on advancing sustainability across the fashion system through education, research, awareness, and collaboration. Since its founding in 2007, the group has engaged with hundreds of brands, designers, and retailers, organized multiple events, and delivered hundreds of speaking engagements, while also developing resources such as the Sustainable Fashion Toolkit and facilitating the WEAR conference. Its work includes leading research on textile recycling in partnership with the Canadian Ministry of Environment & Climate Change and coordinating initiatives to divert textiles from landfills, alongside consumer education that promotes mindful consumption, durable garments, repair, and fair labor practices. The organization also runs youth education programs, reaching tens of thousands of students in Ontario and Vancouver through workshops that explore labour rights, environmental impact, and sustainable choices in fashion. Based in Canada, Fashion Takes Action targets industry stakeholders and the broader public to identify barriers to sustainability and support practical actions to address them.
