Fedasil is the Federal Agency for the reception of asylum seekers, a public-interest organization based in Brussels in the Brussels-Capital Region, operating since May 2002. It coordinates the reception of asylum seekers and other groups entitled to reception, ensuring high-quality services across its structures and overseeing voluntary return programmes. The agency emphasizes humane treatment and adaptability to fluctuating asylum demand, aiming for efficient, transparent management and alignment with Belgium’s international human rights commitments and European directives. Its core beneficiaries are asylum seekers and other foreigners eligible for reception, with material aid and related support provided in partnership with others, including monitoring and guidance for unaccompanied minors. In August 2025, Fedasil announced a partnership with the International Organization for Migration to pilot housing for recognised refugees in Belgium.
