First Keystone Bank first opened its doors in Chester, Pennsylvania in the 1880s, as a building and loan association whose primary purpose was to enable families to purchase farmland and build homes.  At that time, Delaware County was the heart of the region's marketplace, with textile, flour and lumber mills thriving and the industrial waterfront in the City of Chester providing access to goods and services to both nearby communities and the outlying counties of Pennsylvania and Delaware.
