The Odon Exchange Bank was chartered by a group of local business leaders in 1890, and became known as The First National Bank of Odon on May 19, 1904. In 1933 when President Roosevelt proclaimed his nationwide banking holiday, The First National Bank of Odon was declared to be financially sound and was licensed to be reopened after only seven days. Since that time, four locations have been established throughout the Daviess County area. The NSWC (Naval Surface Warfare Center) Crane Facility was established at the request of the Commanding Officer in 1951 during the Korean War when over 5,000 were employed there. In response to invitations by their community leaders, branches were opened in the nearby town of Elnora in 1959 and in the community of Montgomery in southern Daviess County in 1962.
