FlashFood, LLC is a Tempe-based company operating in the food and beverage services sector. It provides a digital platform in the form of a mobile app and website that enables food service businesses to donate surplus perishable food to charitable organizations and volunteers, coordinating the logistics of rapid donations. This approach seeks to reduce waste and redirect edible surplus to those in need. Its customer base includes restaurants, caterers, and grocers that generate surplus as well as food charities and volunteers who receive and distribute donations, aligning incentives to reduce waste and relieve hunger. In a broader national context, nearly 50 million Americans experience food insecurity and about 40% of U.S. food is wasted, a situation that underscores the relevance of FlashFood's work as a small to mid-sized player in the food rescue sector.
