Flat Vernacular is a small design studio based in Norwalk, Connecticut, founded in 2010. It specializes in original fabrics and wallpapers that infuse spaces with color and character, with patterns designed and locally screen-printed on a made-to-order basis for both residential and commercial projects.

Founders Payton Cosell Turner and Brian Kaspr lead a compact team that develops distinctive, modern designs with a nostalgic edge. The studio’s work targets clients seeking expressive, pattern-driven decoration for diverse settings, from living rooms to restaurants and galleries, including notable spaces such as a women’s clubhouse in the sky. As a player in the design services industry, Flat Vernacular emphasizes local production and bespoke patterns over mass-produced wall coverings.
