Forbes Library is the public library for Northampton, Massachusetts, providing a broad range of information resources, materials, and services to residents of Northampton and the wider Massachusetts community. Its building offers a friendly, welcoming environment that supports civic, intellectual, and cultural pursuits, and it functions as a community gathering place that nurtures curiosity and lifelong learning. As a small to mid-sized library, it maintains a schedule of 56 hours per week and keeps many resources accessible online around the clock. In fall 2024, Forbes Library partnered with Northampton Public Schools to provide library cards to every kindergarten student. It has pursued collaborations with organizations such as the Center for New Americans and maintains a strategic plan for Fiscal Years 2025 through 2027 to guide its priorities.
