Forefront (Illinois) is a statewide membership association that supports the social impact sector by connecting nonprofits, philanthropy, public agencies, advisors, and allies. Founded in 1974 and based in Chicago, it provides education, advocacy, thought leadership, and project management to strengthen the sector and attract investment, build talent, and improve systems and policies. Its nonprofit members operate in 26 issue areas, while grantmaking and advisor members—ranging from private foundations to consultants—participate to advance funding and professional support; the organization also engages social entrepreneurs, impact investors, and B-Corps.

Through these activities, Forefront helps educate, shelter, and enrich communities across Illinois, aiming to create healthier, more vibrant places to live. A recent development is the March 2026 launch of the Nonprofit Resilience Hub to help Illinois nonprofits understand and respond to federal uncertainty and organizational risks.
