Forgotten Chicago is a small organization in the architecture and planning field, based in Chicago. It documents lesser-known elements of the city’s built environment, covering infrastructure, architecture, neighborhoods and the wider cityscape, whether these elements are currently present or exist only in history. The aim is to produce a record of overlooked aspects of Chicago and to provide material for documentation and historical reference. By presenting these discoveries to a broader audience, the effort seeks to raise public awareness of Chicago's built environment and to support preservation efforts where appropriate. While not every old structure warrants preservation, some are of significant architectural and historical interest, and visibility through documentation may help prompt preservation rather than demolition.
