Forno de Minas is a Brazilian food and beverage manufacturer that specializes in pão de queijo, produced from a traditional home recipe that sparked its founding in 1990. The company grew from a small shop in Belo Horizonte to a dedicated manufacturing operation, opening its current factory in 1995 on a 24,000-square-meter site with 10,000 square meters of built space. It is based in Santa Catarina, Brazil, and operates as a sizeable regional employer. In 1999, control of the business was sold to a United States–based company, and the founders re-acquired it about ten years later. Today, the company serves the domestic market and exports pão de queijo to the United States, Canada, Portugal, and Uruguay, illustrating its international reach.
