The Fort Hood Scholarship Fund (FHSF) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization EIN 75-2162523 started in 1985 with the mission of providing academic scholarships to family members of military members stationed at Fort Hood and surrounding communities. Military families face multiple challenges such as frequent moves and deployments which can impact higher educational attainment. Military spouses in particular face unemployment rates of approximately 24%, with the Pentagon stating that the military spouse unemployment rate is a threat to national security and the readiness of military members. At the FHSF, we feel passionately that education is a way to help decrease military spouse unemployment rates and increase the quality of life for military families. Military children also face greater academic challenges because of frequent moves and emotional stress. The FHSF seeks to help remove barriers to higher educational attainment and increase the quality of life of military families by providing academic scholarships to high school seniors and spouses of military members stationed at Fort Hood and surrounding communities. In the last five years, the FHSF awarded 224 individuals $250,850 in scholarship funds directly to the college or vocational school. With your help, we can reach our goal of doubling the amount of scholarship funds awarded and increasing our positive impact on the lives of military families. At FHSF we believe that together we can make a big impact on the Fort Hood military community.
