The Fort Ord Reuse Authority is a government body charged with guiding the economic recovery and reuse planning for the former Fort Ord site along the California coast near the Monterey Peninsula. It oversees replacement land use, enforces adopted measures, removes physical barriers to reuse, and coordinates major infrastructure projects to meet base-wide demands. Environmental reserves are protected under its oversight. The Fort Ord site covers about 45 square miles (28,000 acres) and sits within the Monterey Bay area, with the authority based in Marina, California. Its work, conducted under state law, aims to plan, finance, and monitor redevelopment in the best interest of the Northern Monterey Bay Community. A 2021 development noted a partnership with Camrose, Alberta.
