The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, based in Fort Worth, Texas, traces its roots to 1912 when a group of musicians formed the ensemble. It serves a diverse audience of more than 200,000 children and adults with about 200 concerts annually across North Texas. As a long-standing part of the Fort Worth arts community, it also fulfills the role of official orchestra for institutions including the Fort Worth Opera, the Texas Ballet Theater, the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, and Texas Christian University's Pianofest. The orchestra performs at Bass Performance Hall for pops and symphonic programs and at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, where its six-week Concerts in the Garden festival has drawn over 850,000 attendees since its debut in 1991. In 2020, it launched Music Lab, a virtual performance platform that broadened its programming beyond traditional live concert venues. The organization maintains ongoing partnerships and programming that contribute to the city’s cultural offerings and its regional performing arts scene.
