The Foundation for Retinal Research (FRR) is committed to finding treatments and cures for Retinal Degenerative Diseases and supporting the lives of affected families. Mission The Foundation for Retinal Research is committed to finding treatments and cures for Retinal Degenerative Diseases and supporting the lives of affected families. Company Overview The Foundation for Retinal Research (FRR) was founded in 1998 at a time when very little was known or published about Leber's Congenital Amaurosis (LCA). Families affected by Leber's Congenital Amaurosis had a difficult time acquiring information and making connections to help them understand the eye disorder. The Foundation for Retinal Research has bridged the gap between families and research. This website offers people the most current medical and research information available, connects them to other families and provides links to services related to the field of blindness. Description FRR continues to be instrumental in funding researchers who are seeking cures for retinal degenerative diseases through gene therapy, replacement therapy, and visual prosthetics. Recently, these researchers have restored vision in two forms of LCA, one through gene therapy and one through retinoid therapy. In addition there has been progress in new gene identification, biological analysis of discovered genes, retinal replacement therapies and drug interventions. Disease classification, patient registries and aid in establishing sites for clinical trials are all part of the game plan for conquering LCA. General Information Foundation for Retinal Research is a registered not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public organization. Tax ID# 36-4232603
