First Principles … A Better Way. We work with medical device companies to make good, data-driven, design decisions and develop a good understanding of tradeoffs and opportunities. This helps our clients to meet deadlines, stay within budget, and plan based on predictable outcomes. Our clients typically have one or more these three issues: 1. They keep coming to dead-ends in their product development because they don’t have a good way of vetting conceptual designs. Because of this they often go over budget and miss critical schedule milestones. 2. Because they don’t have a good process for making good, data-driven, design decisions they spend too much time and money guessing, building, testing, and iterating. 3. Because they don’t have a model-based understanding of their system, they have a hard time knowing how to interpret test data and fall into a “test-to-success” mindset which often does not converge in a way that meets functional, schedule, and budget objectives.
