Franklin College is a residential liberal arts institution located in Franklin, Indiana, about 20 minutes south of downtown Indianapolis. Founded in 1834, the campus spans 207 acres and features wooded grounds, athletic fields, and a 31-acre biology woodland. The college offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in 51 majors across 25 disciplines, supported by 42 minors, 11 pre-professional programs, and five cooperative programs, and enrolls roughly 1,000 students. The school emphasizes independent thinking, responsible leadership, and service across professional and community contexts, pairing a suburban setting with access to the city's opportunities. Historically, the college began admitting women in 1842, becoming Indiana's first coeducational institution, and it maintains a voluntary association with the American Baptist Churches USA. In April 2026, Franklin College named Rev. Thomas Bartley as chaplain and director of religious life.
