The Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens is a mission-driven membership nonprofit that supports the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, a public facility in Birmingham, Alabama. Since 1962, the Gardens have welcomed visitors to explore plant collections, enjoy nature, and learn about plants, gardening, and the environment, across 67.5 acres featuring more than 12,000 plants in about two dozen gardens. The Gardens operate through a public/private partnership between the City of Birmingham and the nonprofit Friends, combining municipal stewardship with community support. The organization coordinates and supports community programming and events, ranging from festivals to conferences, and in 2025 launched the Rooted in Community awards program. In its local Birmingham area focus, the group serves a broad audience of visitors and learners seeking access to botanical education and environmental programming.
