Friends of Dinosaur Ridge is a small nonprofit organization based in Morrison, Colorado, dedicated to protecting fossils along Dinosaur Ridge and educating the public about dinosaurs from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Founded in 1989, the organization operates at a site that lies within the Morrison-Golden Fossil Areas National Natural Landmark near Denver and is historically notable for early discoveries during the Bone Wars, including Stegosaurus, Allosaurus, and Apatosaurus. Open nearly year round, the site attracts about 200,000 visitors annually and offers a range of self guided and guided experiences, including walking tours marked by interpretive signs, an audio tour, and a 45 minute guided bus tour along the Dinosaur Ridge Trail, with additional guided walks and group tours available. The Main Visitors Center houses a gift shop and exhibit hall, while the Martin G. Lockley Discovery Center presents further museum items and souvenirs. The two mile trail features over 300 dinosaur tracks across 15 sites and supports educational programs offered by staff and volunteers, such as children's camps, walks with geologists, adult field trips, lecture series, and remote learning opportunities.
