Friends of the National Arboretum (FONA) is the primary private partner of the U.S. National Arboretum. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit partner, we collaborate with the National Arboretum in pursuit of a stronger Arboretum to better serve our community and nation.

FONA supports the National Arboretum by:
— Facilitating youth education programs that connect the community with food, science, and public greenspace.
— Hosting public events that encourage a connection to nature, science, health, and wellness.
— Communicating on behalf of the Arboretum through weekly publications, a magazine, and social media.
— Advocating on behalf of the Arboretum with city and federal officials and promoting strong buy-in from USDA leadership and partners.
— Collaborating with the Arboretum on infrastructure projects and operations.
Providing discretionary funding for Arboretum operations and interns through private donations and venue rental revenue.
