Front Line Defenders is a Dublin-based nonprofit that assists human rights defenders who work non-violently to advance rights enshrined in the UDHR. The organization provides rapid, practical support, including security and protection grants for individuals and for organizations, aimed at strengthening safety and allowing defenders to continue their work. It also offers training in security, digital security, and methods for publicising cases and engaging in international advocacy. Its services cover needs such as legal support during judicial harassment, medical expenses for those harmed through peaceful activism, and family assistance, along with emergency security aid and temporary relocation when needed. In 2022, the Government of Canada partnered with Front Line Defenders to identify HRDs at risk and explore protection and resettlement options.
