Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS) is a 501(c)(3) educational organization based in Powell, Ohio, focused on promoting and sustaining student interest in careers across insurance, risk management, and actuarial science. Founded in 1965, GIS has built a North American network comprising about 7,000 students and 35,000 alumni from 177 colleges and universities. It supports student preparation for the industry through programs, partnerships, campus engagement, and a broad professional network that connects learners with opportunities in the field.

The Gamma Iota Sigma Foundation, established in 2022, broadens access to opportunities by reducing barriers to participation and fostering professional development through strategic partnerships and philanthropy. In 2025, GIS hosted its Regional Conference Series in Richmond, Virginia, and Fort Worth, Texas, attracting more than 240 students from 44 colleges and universities and 61 sponsors, with a career fair offering internships, entry-level roles, and scholarships. The organization has pursued collaborations to strengthen the talent pipeline, including a 2025 partnership with University Risk Management and Insurance Association, Inc. to advance its workforce development goals.
