GCC Board Directors Institute (GCC BDI) is a not-for-profit professional training and coaching organization focused on board directors in the Gulf region. Its mission is to enhance board member capabilities, build a strong regional network, and disseminate high-quality corporate governance knowledge to guide governance practices. Based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, it was founded in 2007 by a group of regional companies and professional services firms, including Saudi Aramco, SABIC, Emirates NBD, Investcorp, McKinsey & Company, A&O Shearman, Heidrick & Struggles, and PwC; it is recognized as the Gulf region's only director institute within the Global Network of Director Institutes (GNDI). It operates with support from eight strategic partners and regional regulators, underscoring its cross-sector reach across private and public governance environments. The institute has delivered more than 600 programmes and events for Gulf-based organizations and has a membership of over 4,600 board professionals. In 2023, GCC BDI published its eighth Board Effectiveness Review, reflecting ongoing engagement with governance trends in the region.
