Gdańsk University of Technology is a Polish higher education institution located in Gdańsk, offering technical and engineering programs to about 14,000 students across eight faculties. It operates four research centers—BioTechMed, EkoTech, Materials of the Future, and Digital Technologies—and two research-implementation centers: the Centre for Offshore Wind Energy and the Centre for Hydrogen Technologies, employing over 1,000 staff members and more than 1,300 academic teachers. The university provides 35 first-cycle and 33 second-cycle degree programs, including 18 programs taught in English, as well as around 50 postgraduate programs, and hosts Poland’s only Implementation Doctoral School. It shows active research activity with more than 115 contracted research projects since 2018 and over 120 licensing agreements, along with seven spin-off companies and involvement in six research clusters. The institution has received national recognition in the Inicjatywa doskonałości – uczelnia badawcza competition (placing second overall and being named the best technical university in Poland) and holds high evaluation categories (two faculties in A+ and five in A), while also bearing the HR Excellence in Research mark; its MBA program is noted in the QS ranking of Executive MBAs.
