General Truck Body is a Houston-based motor vehicle manufacturer with roots dating to the early 1900s, when Boris Levitch operated a blacksmith shop that shoe horses and later began producing horse-drawn carriages. As motorized transport emerged, the company expanded into building truck bodies and served early customers such as Montgomery Ward, Safeway Stores, and Campbell Dairies.

Today, the business operates two divisions in Houston and a third in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex, including a Custom Manufacturing Division that guides product development from concept to completion and integrates systems for electrical, electronics, data acquisition, hydraulics, and climate control, with enclosures suitable for trucks, trailers, or skid-mounted setups. Its Truck Equipment Divisions supply durable, customizable configurations for commercial trucks and act as a Commercial Truck Pool for Chevrolet, Ram, Ford, and GMC vehicles, with repair and service delivered by factory-trained technicians. In February 2024, Reading Truck Body, LLC acquired Generalbody, signaling a change in ownership within the regional market.
