Genome British Columbia is a biotechnology research organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia. It acts as a driver of genomics innovation on Canada’s West Coast and works to integrate genomics into society by supporting research, entrepreneurship and commercialization in life sciences. Its portfolio focuses on addressing challenges across health, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture, agri-food, energy, mining and the environment, with partnerships that span national and international funding organizations to advance BC’s bioeconomy. It also engages in public outreach to foster understanding of life sciences among teachers, students and the wider community, with more than 271,578 BC students reached in 191 schools across 81 communities over the last five years. In November 2025, Genome British Columbia announced a collaboration with RDAR and Genome Alberta to develop the Agriculture Metadata Commons, a platform designed to improve access to agricultural research metadata across Canada.
