The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, preserves, presents, and advances the artist’s legacy and Modernism through public engagement, education, and research. Its collection contains over 3,000 works, including more than 1,100 O’Keeffe paintings, drawings, and sculptures dating from 1901 to 1984, making it the largest single repository of her work in the world. The museum occupies Pueblo Revival-style buildings a short distance from the historic plaza and opened to the public in 1997. It serves visitors and scholars with changing selections and special exhibitions devoted to O’Keeffe’s art, as well as exhibitions by her contemporaries and living artists; the institution has shown works by more than 140 artists beyond O’Keeffe. It is the most visited art museum in New Mexico and the only museum in the United States dedicated to an internationally known woman artist. Recent developments include expansion plans, with a new campus announced for Santa Fe, Argentina to open in 2028, and a reimagined Santa Fe campus expected to open the same year.
