Gerdau is a Brazilian company with a 122-year history, headquartered in São Paulo at 8501 Avenue Das Nações Unidas 8º, São Paulo, 05425070. It is Brazil's largest steel producer and one of the leading long-steel producers in the Americas, with additional flat steel and iron ore production for its own use in Brazil. The company maintains a division called Gerdau Next to foster entrepreneurship in segments adjacent to the steel industry. Gerdau operates in nine countries and employs more than 30,000 direct and indirect workers; it is the largest recycling company in Latin America, producing 73% of its steel from scrap and transforming about 11 million tonnes of scrap annually. It is also the world's largest charcoal producer, with over 250 hectares of planted forests in Minas Gerais, and reports a low greenhouse gas emissions intensity of 0.86 t CO2e per tonne of steel, aiming for 0.83 by 2031; its shares are listed on B3, NYSE and Latibex.
