It is every person’s right to be treated with dignity, and cared for with compassion. Since 1968, Gilead Community Services has helped transform thousands of lives by providing high-quality services such as housing, clinical support, and skills teaching to individuals experiencing mental health and substance use conditions. Gilead’s story begins at Wesleyan University, where three students envisioned a community alternative to hospitalization. The original Gilead House, rented from Wesleyan for $1 a year, housed 15 individuals. Today, Gilead has programs in 8 Connecticut towns and serves over 2,000 individuals throughout the state. Just like our clients, our employees are members of the Gilead’s family. For our staff, working at Gilead is not just a job – it’s a passion. Our services are marked with excellence and compassion because of the value that we place on each life that we touch including clients, families, and employees. Gilead’s employees enjoy a range of benefits, from employee-sponsored health insurance to career growth and professional development opportunities. Employment at Gilead is an opportunity to engage in rewarding work with collaborative and supportive coworkers. A position at one of Gilead’s outpatient programs or residential homes opens doors for careers in healthcare, social work, assistive services, and program administration.
