The organization serves more than 8,000 girls and 3,000 adult volunteers across 122 Georgia counties and two counties in South Carolina plus one in Alabama, covering a footprint of more than 48,000 square miles. The Girl Scouts movement was founded by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia, in 1912, and in May 2026 the council hosted a Legacy of Leadership event in Savannah.
