Girls on the Run is an experiential after school program that encourages young girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles. The 24 lesson curriculum for girls in grades 3-8 combines training for a 5k run/walk event with lessons that promote physical, emotional and social development. The program objective is to reduce the display of at-risk behaviors among participants by providing the girls with the tools to make healthy decisions and form positive self-images. Currently serving over 1500 girls, with the help of 600 volunteer coaches, in schools, community centers and churches throughout greater Cincinnati.
