Gladstone Regional Council is located in Central Queensland, about 550 kilometres north of Brisbane, bounded by the Coral Sea to the east with easy access to a national highway, rail network and award-winning airport. 

The region is a rapidly growing hotspot, home to 60,000 people, and boasts national parks, state forests, beaches, islands and is the doorway to the Great Barrier Reef. Gladstone is a prosperous region built on major industry, including two of the world's largest alumina refineries, an aluminium smelter, power station, cement and chemical manufacturers and Queensland’s largest multi-commodity port. In addition, the Gladstone State Development Area continues to attract large industry to the region, including the current construction of three Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plants on Curtis Island, a short distance off the coast of Gladstone, with approval for a fourth. 

With a permanent workforce of around 750, servicing over 200 different business functions, Council employees strive to do the everyday things well, every day, and maintain the standard of our current environment amid the impacts of rapid growth and development.
