Founded in 2004, GMF Steel Group includes GMF Construction, the steel erection division, and GMF Industries, the structural steel fabrication plant. GMF has grown from five employees to over 350 and expanded across the Southeast with projects in Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Louisiana, and Texas. Its largest project sold for $70 million—compared to the first at $20,000.

Flagship projects include Florida State University’s Doak Campbell Stadium rebuild and Dunlap Football Center, Tampa International Airport terminals, University of South Florida Football Stadium, University of Florida Baseball Stadium, and the Tyndall Air Force Base rebuild—the Pentagon’s largest project in history.

In 2022, GMF registered its Structural Steel Ironworker Apprenticeship Program with the Florida Department of Education and U.S. Department of Labor, focusing on workforce investment. In 2025, GMF launched its own welding school offering free classes.

GMF has earned Associated Builders & Contractors’ Accredited Quality Contractor (AQC) status for three consecutive years, recognizing excellence in quality, safety, education, community relations, and talent management. In 2025, GMF ranked among ABC’s Top 25 Contractors nationwide and has won 33 Excellence in Construction Eagle Awards, symbolizing superior execution and innovation.

The Steel Erectors Association of America awarded GMF the 2025 Project of the Year for the Tampa Convention Center, along with Safety Excellence and Craft Training Awards for outstanding safety and workforce development.
