Gold Leaf Studios is a specialist workshop in frame fabrication, conservation, gilding, and large-scale architectural gilding, serving private collectors, museums, galleries, historic properties, universities, government agencies, and design firms. The company offers comprehensive framing services, including hand-carved reproduction frames that reflect period styles as well as custom-designed modern frames, supported by a substantial collection of over 3,000 antique frames for original period options, all performed under museum-standard conservation, mounting, and matting practices. Based in Washington, DC, the firm operates from a sizeable carriage house facility in Dupont Circle, with its workshop in the space that formerly served as stables and a mixed-use upper level for offices, reception, displays, and a fine art gallery. Founded in 1982 by William Adair, Gold Leaf Studios positions itself as an international reference in its niche of restoration-focused frame work and gilding for significant artworks and architectural projects.
