Gold Star is a Cincinnati-based restaurant chain known for its Cincinnati-style chili, with roots dating back to 1965 when the Daoud brothers bought a Mt. Washington restaurant and began preparing chili in small batches from a family recipe of 13 spices. The menu combines that chili with a broader casual lineup, including a Cheese Coney and chili-spaghetti combinations (3-, 4-, and 5-Way) alongside burgers, southern-style chicken sandwiches, vegetarian chili, double-decker deli sandwiches, loaded fries, hand-tossed salads, and real ice cream shakes.

The company operates a mix of corporate- and franchise-owned locations across Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana and is actively pursuing additional franchise opportunities in the region. It positions itself as a casual, family-friendly dining option that prioritizes freshly prepared chili and a diverse menu to meet varied tastes. A recent development is the launch of a limited-time Spicy Chicken Sandwich in 2025, reflecting ongoing menu expansion.
