The Golden Gate Bird Alliance, based in Berkeley, California, is a small to mid-sized nonprofit in the environmental services sector. It operates as an independent organization with its own membership, budget, and programs, and functions as a local chapter of the National Audubon Society. The group aims to engage people in experiencing birds and to translate that wonder into actions that protect native bird populations and their habitats; it was formerly known as Golden Gate Audubon Society. The alliance pursues its mission through partnerships with other organizations, such as a 2023 collaboration with California I CAN to plan a spring festival, and prior collaborations like Oakland Zoo's Heron Rescue Team in 2022. It also engages local communities through events and educational activities that connect people with birds and their habitats. Supporting Members receive The Gull newsletter, reflecting ongoing member involvement.
