The Greater Merrimack Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMVCVB) was incorporated in 1992. We are officially recognized by the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT) as one of the State's 16 Regional Tourism Councils established by the Legislature to market the region as a premier travel destination. Our primary mission is to enhance the economic fabric of the Greater Merrimack Valley region by marketing the area as a destination for meetings and conventions, trade shows, special events, group tours and leisure travel. The Greater Merrimack Valley region is rich in history and culture. Home to the historic communities of Lowell, Lexington and Concord, the region was the birthplace of the American Revolution and the country's industrial revolution. The region also served as a cradle for much of America's great literature and was the home and inspiration to such notable writers as Henry David Thoreau, Louisa May Alcott, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Jack Kerouac. The CVB helps to plan and promote a number of annual and special events each year, including Lowell's WinterFest celebration every February, Lexington and Concord's Patriots' Day celebrations in April and the world-famous Lowell Folk Festival in July. Ambassador volunteers work at our information booth during events to assist visitors with directions and recommendations for places to eat and stay.
