Green Guerillas is a Brooklyn, New York-based nonprofit focused on creating, protecting, and sustaining New York City community gardens. It collaborates with gardeners, youth, and local leaders to advocate for environmental and food justice and to grow garden space one community at a time. Founded in 1973, the organization emphasizes hands-on involvement and ongoing stewardship of urban green spaces. Its primary beneficiaries are neighborhood residents who gain access to green spaces, education, and opportunities for civic participation through gardens, with the organization operating as a small nonprofit in the civic and social sector. A notable recent development is its 2022 collaboration with Brooklyn Queens Land Trust to renovate the John the Baptist garden in Bed-Stuy.
