Groupmuse is a New York–based platform that organizes intimate house concerts, connecting musicians and audiences in living room settings. Since its inception in January 2013, it has facilitated about a thousand groupmuses across multiple cities in the United States and beyond, creating a space for real-life and online musical engagement. The service aims to blend live performance with intimate venues, offering a community where attendees and performers interact in warm, informal environments. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Groupmuse expanded to online concerts streamed from musicians’ homes and established the Groupmuse Foundation to support musicians with training and technology to reach audiences during restricted times. In 2021 it transitioned to a worker-owned cooperative, evolving into a multistakeholder model with musician-owners participating in governance. Groupmuse operates within the musicians industry, positioning itself at the intersection of live performance, community-building, and digital access to intimate concert experiences.
