GrowNYC is a mid-sized nonprofit operating in the environmental services sector, based in New York City. Founded in 1970 as the Council on the Environment of New York City, it began with policy analysis on issues such as air quality, traffic, and noise before moving toward hands-on community programs. Today, the organization supports equitable access to fresh, locally grown food, vibrant neighborhood green spaces, waste reduction, and environmental education through a broad network of programs.
