Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters is the only year-round full-service resort with the world-famous Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness as its backyard. With 24 deluxe lakeside cabins, an award-winning restaurant and bar, a wide range of outdoor activities, and a comprehensive canoe outfitting business, Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters is sure to provide the Northwoods getaway you seek. (And get away you will — we’re located 43 miles outside of Grand Marais, one of America’s coolest small towns!)

You’ll find plenty of outdoor activities to engage in while you’re here. During the summer, we offer guided day trips (canoeing & hiking) into the Boundary Waters, equestrian activities, a forest canopy zipline tour, fishing guides, boat rentals on Gunflint Lake, and free paddlesports for guests. Add to these options a full-time naturalist who leads enriching activities (nature hikes, educational presentations, seminars, & crafts) at the Nature Center and on the extensive trails that encircle the Lodge.

Accommodations range from cozy one-bedroom lakeside cabins to expansive four- and five-bedroom cabins, many with full kitchens, saunas, and hot tubs. Our setting is perfect for small weddings and elopements, which take place during every season here. Our Boundary Waters Conference Center hosts company meetings year round, and our brand-new Northern Lights Lodge (opening early 2025) promises more comfortable event space yet. Wi-fi is available throughout the resort, and limited cell service may be found as well (though no one will discourage you from disconnecting altogether). 

In addition to the joy of living on the edge of the wilderness surrounded by the Superior National Forest, employees can expect on-site staff housing (walk to work!), free & reduced-cost use of outdoors equipment, employee discounts on restaurant & gift shop, and the camaraderie of working as a team to surprise and delight our guests who come from all around the globe.
