Gem Valley Appraisal (GVA) was founded by Ruby Stroschein in 1986 in southeastern Idaho. In 1997 GVA moved to Moscow, Idaho. Since the move GVA has been expanding its services and reaching new markets across the Pacific Northwest. 

We provide our services under the guidelines and methods outlined by the Appraisal Institute and Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. Our focus is on collecting reliable data, properly analyzing that data, allowing that analysis to guide us to determinations, supporting our conclusion, and providing a report that sets forth the analysis and conclusions in a clear, professional manner based on the scope of work agreement with our clients.

Our firm consists of two full time staff appraisers, a full time an office manager, and a research/ reporting aide. The appraisers, Ruby Stroschein and Sarah Miles, are both Certified General Appraisers in Idaho and Washington.  Both appraisers are affiliated with the Appraisal Institute, Ruby having earned the prestigious MAI designation in 2006, with Sarah earning her MAI designation in 2016.
