Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West is a local nonprofit in the civic and social sector, based in Mandeville, Louisiana. Since 1981, it has served the west St. Tammany parish by building affordable homes for low-income families, totaling more than 200 residences to date. The organization relies on volunteer labor and community funding to construct homes, which are then sold to HFHSTW HomeBuyers with zero-interest mortgage loans. Each HomeBuyer participates in financial education and contributes roughly 400 hours of sweat equity as part of the ownership process. As a small nonprofit, HFHSTW depends on volunteers and partnerships with local groups to advance its mission. Recent activity includes participation in the 5th Annual Community Partners Build to raise walls on a future home, and involvement in Women Build events where teams frame new houses on site.
