hackNY is a United States-based organization focused on building a diverse and inclusive tech community in New York City to empower the next generation of responsible tech leaders. Since 2010, it has run the annual hackNY Summer Fellowship program to cultivate a community of student technologists in New York City. The program is co-organized by hackNY and alumNY, together with faculty from NYU and Columbia. The Fellows program curates a summer co-living experience for talented student technologists at NYC tech companies, integrating participants into a network of socially-conscious alumNY through speaker series, mixers, and celebrations. Its programs target student technologists in the NYC tech ecosystem and local companies seeking access to emerging talent, offering opportunities for collaboration and professional development. Positioned within the research services field, hackNY facilitates structured fellowship programs and community-building activities that connect students with practitioners and academics, and has received recognition from ProFellow as a Top 10 Summer Fellowship and coverage by outlets such as CNN, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Observer.
