The Hawaiian Humane Society is a non-profit organization focused on animal welfare on Oʻahu. It shelters, protects, rescues, reunites and rehomes animals and supports education and advocacy initiatives. Its mission centers on promoting the human-animal bond and humane treatment of all animals. The organization operates under a sheltering model called Socially Conscious Sheltering, guided by eight tenets that emphasize transparency, ethical decision making, mutual respect, continual learning and collaboration.

Based in Honolulu, Hawaii, the group was founded in 1883 and is the island’s largest animal welfare organization serving local pets and people in need. In 2026, it launched the 100 Foster Challenge to ease shelter crowding.
