Faculty of Design Bachelor of Arts (Design) and Master of Arts (Design) With its large spectrum of nine competence fields, which complement and are also linked with one another, the artistic-scientific Bachelor programme in Design forms an interdisciplinary study programme that is unique in its diversity and with its very well equipped workshops. The fields of competence are: Advertising Design, Corporate Identity/Corporate Design, Colour Design, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Interior Design/Interior Architecture, Lighting Design, Metal Design and Product Design. The six-semester Bachelor study programme makes it possible for students to either specialise in one particular field in the traditional way or to combine a number of different fields in a completely new way. The study course plans for the individual fields of competence are by no means mandatory, but have rather been designed to serve as a guideline for the students. This allows students to collaborate on an interdisciplinary basis and to pursue their own individual interests, which can, in turn, lead to completely new combinations of the areas of competence and have an innovative effect on the course contents. The artistic-scientific Master study programme is four semesters in length. It is designed to qualify graduates for positions of leadership in complex, sophisticated fields of design in design teams, in professional freelancing or in their own businesses. The main emphasis is placed on developing the ability to think strategically, on promoting integrative design and on preparing for team-oriented leadership.
