Head Of The Charles Regatta, founded in 1965, is staged annually in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is the world’s largest rowing event and a longstanding Boston sporting tradition, attracting more than 12,000 athletes and hundreds of thousands of spectators from around the world. The event is organized over the year by a Board of Directors and a volunteer Race Committee, supported by more than 100 volunteer leaders across 30 committees and a small full-time staff based in Cambridge. On race weekend, roughly 2,400 volunteers help deliver the competition, safety, and operations that define the Regatta. The Regatta is a registered trademark of the Cambridge Boat Club, reflecting its deep ties to the local rowing community. In 2025, Berklee College of Music announced a partnership with HOCR to present live student performances at the event, illustrating collaboration with the broader arts community.
