Healing Arts Initiative uses engagement with the arts to support healing, growth, and learning for people whose access to culture is limited by health, age, or income. In New York City, the organization touches more than 350,000 individuals annually, including frail elderly people, persons with disabilities, and seriously ill children in health and social service settings, as well as youth from kindergarten through 12th grade. Its programs span music, dance, theater, and visual arts, offering tickets to cultural events, on-site performances, arts workshops, audio description for visually impaired theater audiences, and transportation on three OMNI*BUSES to accommodate participants. HAI operates within the strategic management services sector and is based in Long Island City, New York. The organization relies on partnerships with government agencies, foundations, corporations, and private individuals to deliver arts services that support disadvantaged and vulnerable communities. Through collaborations with hundreds of artists and performers, it aims to improve daily life by expanding access to the arts.
