Health Volunteers Overseas is a nonprofit organization in the hospitals and health care sector that aims to expand access to high-quality care by strengthening local health professionals in resource-scarce countries. It builds equitable, two-way partnerships with more than 75 health institutions worldwide to address persistent health workforce shortages.

The organization advances care by educating, training, and supporting health workers through short-term volunteer placements, longer-term fellowships, conference scholarships, and remote e-learning and mentorship. HVO has scaled its e-learning capacity in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and regards online learning as a core element of its programming. Based in Washington, DC, the organization has a history spanning more than 30 years and is recognized by the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance and GuideStar; it has also launched initiatives such as an Obstetrics and Gynecology project in Moshi, Tanzania in 2024.
