Healthy Families & Communities (formerly known as Hispanic Family Center of Southern New Jersey) is a nonprofit organization committed to providing a broad range of culturally responsive social services and advocacy programs that promote empowerment and self-sufficiency for individuals and families.

Over the course of its 40-year history, Healthy Families & Communities has continually adapted to meet the evolving needs of Southern New Jersey’s residents, with deep roots in serving the Hispanic community. What began as a grassroots advocacy initiative offering behavioral health services has grown into a comprehensive, multi-service human services organization.

The organization’s transformation from a behavioral health provider into a regional flagship agency is reflected in its guiding vision: “Through its comprehensive programs and services, Healthy Families & Communities will address the immediate needs—physical, mental, social, economic, and political—of Southern New Jersey residents, while also serving as an instrument of change and a voice of empowerment for the individuals and families it supports.” Today, the organization operates out of three locations in Camden and one in Gloucester County, reaching nearly 10,000 clients annually through a diverse portfolio of services designed for a wide range of populations.

Healthy Families & Communities brings decades of experience in improving health outcomes through counseling and health education; delivering effective adult education, job training, and workforce development; advocating for and supporting children and families; and providing energy assistance to low-income households. While the organization has expanded its reach to serve the broader community, it continues to maintain a strong presence and deep trust within the Latino community.
