The Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust is a large hospital trust within the English health system, based in Birmingham, West Midlands. It operates a network of facilities, including Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Solihull Hospital and Community Services, Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield, and the Birmingham Chest Clinic, with additional satellite units to provide treatment near patients' homes. The trust delivers a broad range of care, with strengths in preventing MRSA and in treating conditions such as heart and kidney disease, cancer, HIV/AIDS, and respiratory illnesses, along with services in premature baby care, bone marrow transplantation, and thoracic surgery. It serves the general public in its region, handling more than a million patient visits each year and drawing around a quarter of a million people to its emergency departments; its hospitals deliver more babies than anywhere else in Europe. Originating from Little Bromwich Hospital and the Marston Green Maternity Hospital, it became the first acute trust in Birmingham in 1992 and has since grown to be among the largest NHS foundation trusts in England.
